Data Integrity

Data integrity can be looked at in three ways:
  • day-to-day data creation and manipulation.
  • data archiving.
  • protection against external threats (computer viruses, hacking, other forms of malware.)

As a customer, you are responsible for the integrity of data that you create on a day-to-day basis. So, for example, if you use an application incorrectly or you corrupt a database by importing bad data, resulting in a loss of data integrity, then this is your responsibility. In most cases where this happens (which is not often) we will help you to get back to the position you were in before the issue arose, though there may be an additional charge for this.

We at Cantono are responsible for the integrity of your data in our archives. We ensure that all of this data is backed up on a regular basis and that the back-ups themselves have worked, have been validated as complete and are therefore restorable should they be required.

For example, if a customer finds that a day-to-day data creation issue has corrupted a database, we would not be responsible for the corruption but we would have to be in a position to undertake a database restore if the customer requested it.

The types of data created and the methods of archiving used are discussed with each customer individually to ensure that everyone knows how the process works and where the responsibilities lie. This also ensures that the appropriate level of resilience has been applied, including disaster recovery processes.

Cantono’s comprehensive security measures, including anti-virus, anti spam and managed firewall, combine to offer the highest degree of protection against external threats to your data.
